1.3.4 Routine Equipment Care Implementation Workshop

MAINTENANCE AND RELIABILITY

DESCRIPTION:

These workshops differ greatly from a typical training session in that the group will be developing the infrastructure to support the process in their area during the workshop. These sessions are highly engaging and support the empowerment element that is so significant to the process.

RECOMMENDED AUDIENCE:

Each workshop should be attended by a group of team members from the ODR area being addressed, to include both operators and maintenance support personnel. These workshops are most effective when the leaders from the area spend some initial time in the workshop, but then leave with expectations placed on the team to perform. We suggest that the leaders then stop in periodically throughout the session to check in and reinforce and acknowledge the work being done.

In a perfect world, we would have all operators from the area in question, but this is not logical, so we recommend a representative sample from the area – generally 10- 15 people. We must have consistency throughout, so changing of resources in attendance is not allowed – if they start the session, they must continue throughout the entire session. At least one (1) maintenance person who services the area in question must attend the entire session. Ideally, we would have at least one (1) electrical and one (1) mechanical resource in attendance.

YOU WILL LEARN:

  • Map the boundaries of the ODR area
  • Identify typical abnormalities and prioritization of equipment
  • Develop quantitative inspections using the standard format
  • Establish the abnormality tagging process
  • Apply visual controls
  • Develop initial Single Point Lessons (SPL)
  • Install the ODR communication board
  • Develop formal audit criteria

COURSE DURATION:

4 days
